Villarreal’s last La Liga match against Real Betis on Sunday ended in a 1-0 defeat, courtesy of Rodri’s 61st-minute goal. It was the Yellow Submarine’s first league defeat of the campaign. Unai Emery’s side have recorded three wins and one draw thus far from five La Liga games. Meanwhile, in the mid-week European match against H Beer-Sheva, goals from Jose Morales and Alex Baena helped the Yellow Submarine secure all three points and move to the top of Group C. Emery’s side have won three of their last four games across all competitions, having scored 10 goals in that period, while conceding just four times.
Sevilla, on the other hand, haven’t made a great start to their La Liga campaign, having lost three of their opening five games so far. The Red-Whites’ only league win of the season came against Espanyol last Saturday. Erik Lamela gave an early lead to Sevilla, before Jose Carmona netted a brace to make the score 3-0. Although Espanyol pulled two goals back through Joselu and Martin Brathwaite, the visitors held on to the slender lead and secured all three points.
